And That's a Wrap...
Coming off a hard 5-4 loss to the Petrolia Oilers a few nights ago, the Peewees hoped to end the season on a high note defeating P’town at home in Mooretown in front of the hockey day fans.

The Storm was showing positive signs as the game got underway. All forward lines were playing like a team, the defense was solid, and Shaw was on his game. Both sides would get their chances but the goaltenders were hot and showed the fans that they would be the ones who would determine the fate of this game. Neither team would score in the first period but it wasn’t from the lack of quality scoring chances by the Storm.

Mooretown would bite first to get the mark on the board shortly into the middle frame. As a result of a hard slapshot by Chris Dunn, #5 Tristan Dumoulin would be at the right spot at the right time to send home a fat rebound leftover by the Oiler netminder. Both sides went on to kill off penalties with Mooretown gaining momentum as the game moved into the final period and the team up 1-0.

With bragging rights on the line and a win within sights, the team was skating like they had been trained to do. The Storm was dominating the game and just needed to stay focused to take away the W. Dumoulin would earn a ton of fan applause after he softly passed the puck through the feet of the Petrolia defense ‘Mario Lemieux’ style resulting in a breakaway but unfortunately shooting just over the crossbar. Mooretown would successfully kill off a penalty just after Shaw earned highlight of the game honours with a brilliant snag from a hard Oiler wrister. Some heavy Storm pressure resulted in Josh Sterling picking up a rebound and wiring in to the net to increase the lead with Passingham and Dunn earning the helpers. A minute later, Devon Oliveira who passed up going to the Leafs game to play his final game with the team, busted in on a breakaway only to be denied by the former Mooretown products, one of the Lypko twins. Fortunately however, Passingham was there to grab the rebound making it a 3-0 game. In the dying minutes, Petrolia could not be discounted as they pressured hard in an effort to ruin Shaw’s SO. Fan support was high for our goalie as he had proved throughout the season that he was a pillar of the team but with just 15 seconds left, his hope was ruined as the Oilers put one by him. The Storm however would take the win and Shaw should hold his head proud as his effort combined with the teamwork in front of him was why the Mooretown Tri-County Peewee’s skated off the ice with a win over the Petrolia Oilers to conclude the season.
