Rangers Calm Storm in Second Period Burst
The Belmont Rangers took advantage of some well performed positioning scoring 3 goals in in the final minutes of the second to score a 5-2 win over the hometown Storm.  Jake Booth and Logan Forbes found the back of the net in the losing effort.

With Thamesford still active in the OMHA playdowns the Shamrock league put together a 3 team home and home round robin series to kick off the Pool C playoffs.  Mooretown would be set to play the Belmont Rangers and Wallaceburg Lakers.  The Lakers had won both of their games against the Rangers which meant a win would be huge for the Storm to kick things off.  Mooretown and Belmont looked fairly evenly matched as the game started.  Both teams would garner chances as the Rangers moved the puck well cross ice and the Storm skating hard.  Belmont would score first as Ben Brant sprawled to make a save but a Ranger forward popped it over the Storm goalie to take a 1-0 lead.  Logan Forbes would get Mooretown even in the contest with a high shot just over the blue line that tipped off the Rangers goalie’s glove to tie it up at 1. Both teams continued to work hard through the second period but Belmont started to use their positioning and set plays to turn the tide.  The Rangers notched three goals in just over a minute to open up a 4-1 lead before the end of the second.  The Storm would battle back as Jake Booth would bang one in on a goal mouth scramble to make it 4-2 but Mooretown would get no closer as the Rangers added one in an empty net to make it 5-2.  The Storm will return to the Ice Tuesday night in Wallaceburg to face the Lakers at 7:30 p.m.
