The Storm vs the Dragons
Tuesday, November 6, 2012 after a grueling day at school and a long drive to Dorchester, the Mooretown Storm Novice Rep team took on the Dorchester Dragons in a much anticipated game.

The first period saw a lot of action – the teams were well matched and the Storm came out strong and determined. Ryan received a cheap penalty for tripping but, undaunted, the players kept their minds on the game and the puck away from their goalie.  The Dragons did get a shot on net later in the period that bounced off Caleb’s stick with such force it got stuck in the window ledge behind the net!

The second period was similar to the first in that we kept the score 0 – 0.  The Storm showed great passing, and in the opinion of some in the stands, appeared to dominate many of the plays.  Joey received a slashing penalty and yet again, despite being short-handed, the Storm stood their ground and continued to get a few great shots on net only to be denied by the Dragon’s goalie.

It wasn’t until approximately two and half minutes into the third period that a puckfinally made its’ way into a net, unfortunately it was a goal for the Dragons.  The Storm fought hard to tie it up and, again, fired several shots on net but to no avail.  Caleb saved a great shot as a result of a Dragon breakaway and shortly thereafter made a ‘face mask’ save (not sure if that’s the correct terminology – but he blocked the puck from our net nonetheless).  Zak got a penalty for hooking at the same time as the Dragons received a body contact penalty so we continued the play with 5 on 5.  The game continued to be an exciting one with the Storm making many good plays, passing the puck around and showingexcellent defensive work.  With less than a minute to go we pulled our goalie as a last ditch effort to tie the game and with a couple of more seconds on the clock we may have done so as Owen MacDonald fired a hard shot at the net just as the buzzer sounded.

Great effort boys – good luck in the tournament!!

 GO STORM GO!!
