GAME ON
The Mooretown Storm Atom Rep team kicked off their 2013-2014 season on the 22nd of September 2013.  The Storm was excited for the season to get started and went into the game with a fourteen man roster consisting of a mix of 1st and 2nd year players.

The game started with a fast pace with the Blenheim Bruins and Storm trading chances.  The Bruins however were able to register the first goal of the game with just under three minutes left in the first period.  The Bruins scored the only goal of the period taking a one to zero lead into the second.

The second period began with the Storm getting a quick penalty.  This however didn’t deter the Storm who went on the penalty kill with a purpose.  The Storm’s hard effort was rewarded as Lachlan Stewart picked a Bruin player’s pocket on a strong fore check.  Stewart went on a breakaway from the blue line in.  Stewart bulged the twine of the net drawing the Storm even with his shorthanded marker.

The third period began with a 1-1 tie and chances continued at both ends with both goalies coming up with big saves.  None of the saves were bigger than the Johnny Bower-like double pad stack Ryan Steeves pulled off to keep the game tied with time winding down in the third.

The Storm responded to Steeves’ big stop with a go ahead goal as Jake Booth and Blake Broumpton combined on a goal with a jam play in front of the Bruins’ net.  The Storm added an insurance goal with just under two minutes to play.  Again it was the fore check of the Storm that proved too much for the Bruins as Graham Armstrong caused the Bruins’ defenceman to cough up the puck at his own blue line.  Masen Flett made no mistake as he picked up the puck in stride and put a hard shot to the back of the Bruin net.

The Storm took the game with a score of 3-1.
