The warm thanksgiving Saturday afternoon brought out the best in our boys as the Storm faced the Mt Brydges Cougars.
This warm Saturday afternoon brought out the best in our boys as the Storm faced the Mt. Brydges Cougars.
The boys were looking for their first win of the season against a tough Mt. Brydges team. Zac Cottrelle got things started as he took a hard pass from Dylan Ferguson and launched a hard wrister which beat the cougars' goalie. The Cougars responded a few minutes later tying the game up.
During the second period Joey Edlington received a nice feed from Rory Pettit and smoked it past the Cougar goalie giving the Storm the lead. The Cougars didn't give up; they kept pushing back and finally got another shot past the storm goalie tying up at 2.
During the third Kelby Derrick decided to take things in a different direction with his back hand and was rewarded; with help from a mobile defensive pair of Kelly Johnston and Colby Stewart.
Not giving up there, Kelby, on his next shift, scores a similar goal with some slick passing from line mates Owen McCowan and Mitchell Brush.
Excellent down low grinding and defensive back checking led by Joel McLaughin throughout the game. Both Storm goaltenders gave it their all and it paid off. A much improved effort by all the boys today. Keep up the hard work.
