Storm Can’t Clinch… Let The Scoreboard Watching Begin
The Mooretown Storm had the opportunity to lock up the Consolation Championship but fell 7-5 to Wallaceburg and now the Math may make the decision for them.

The Mooretown Storm had the brass ring in reach but couldn’t pull together as they fell 7-5 to Wallaceburg on the road Saturday afternoon.  Mooretown welcomed back Keaton Frayne who was missing with a spell of Mono and had all hands on deck to get the job done.  But it seemed that March Break had claimed the will to win as they stumbled out of the gate and couldn’t keep up with Wallaceburg all game.  The Lakers would score first 2:01 into the game then strike again just over 3 minutes later while keeping the Storm attack at bay.   Dominic Aliperti would pull the Storm even with 2 goals in 12 seconds the second assisted by Dallas Mesko and Anthony Plain.  Wallaceburg would get a tripping penalty at the end of the first and the game would be tied at 2 after 1.  Aliperti would complete the Natural hat trick on the power play to start the second as he scored 3 seconds in with another assist credited to Dallas Mesko.  That would be the only time the Storm would hold the lead in the game. Wallaceburg would tie the game up 4 minutes later.  Colton Beauvais would be tagged with a tripping penalty with 8:13 remaining but the Storm would kill of the penalty to keep the game knotted at 3.    Wallaceburg would take the lead at the 5:19 mark making it 4-3.  Colton Williamson would get into a slashing match with a Wallaceburg player sending both to the box while Josh Sterling would follow Williamson to the box just 27 seconds later giving Wallaceburg another power play.  The man advantage wouldn’t last long as the Lakers would get called for Cross checking sending the teams to 4 on 4.  As Mooretown got back to full strength they had a short lived power play and Keaton Frayne would make it count as he found himself open in the slot ask Mr. Assist Dallas Mesko fed it to him out front for a one-timer to make it 4-4  Anthony Plain would also get an assist.  For Dallas that was his 8th assist the playoffs.  The teams would head into the third tied at 4.  Wallaceburg would grab the lead once again just under 5 minutes into the third but once again the Storm would respond as Dominic Aliperti scored his 4th of the game 58 seconds later with assists to Colton Williamson and Cameron Crowley.  Just 5 seconds later the Lakers would grab the lead for the final time as Colin Gladwish let one slip through the 5-hole.  The final blow came just seconds later as Josh Raymond stepped up and ran head on into a Wallaceburg player.  The collision saw Raymond receive a 5 minute head contact penalty and a Game Misconduct meaning the Storm would have to kill off the penalty while trialing.  Anthony Plain would serve the 5 minute sentence for Raymond.  The Storm Penalty killers would be busy and the Lakers would be sent to the box 2 minutes in making it 4 on 4.  Fourteen seconds later Wallaceburg would score to make it 7-5.  Dominic Aliperti would trade slashes with a Laker late in the game and the Storm would get one last power play with 12 seconds left but the damage was done and now the Storm will have to wait to see how Wallaceburg does in their final games while waiting to play Dresden to wrap up the playoffs.  The Coach felt that the attitude that was present on practice Thursday night carried over to the game on Saturday.  The team seemed to lack focus and paid for it. The penalty assessed to Raymond means he will be out for the last 2 games of the season as the penalty carries a 3 game suspension.
