A Successful Weekend
The fans in the stands were treated to some exciting hockey this past two days.  The Mooretown Flags Red earned 3 of a possible 4 points in what can be called two exciting games.   First we took on Wallaceburg on Friday night. Going into the third period Mooretown was down 7-4.  When the Flags could have thrown in the towel, they kept playing and competing and with a 5 goal performance from Carter Hawkins the Flags were able to battle to an 8-8 tie in a heated afair. .

There was several times when it looked that Mooretown may have scored the go ahead go, but attempts by Dylan Dupuis who saw his shot slide along the goal line and stay out of the net and a few other close attempts come short for the Flags.  There was some impressive play from Biidaaske Nahdee as she played her first game of the season at centre. It might have been easy for our goalie Travis Morningstar to throw in the towel, but as we've seen before Travis and the team were not ready to quit as he made several huge saves to keep the game close.

The second game of the weekend saw the Flags take on the Dresden Maroons White.  They came in to the game allowing the least goals allowed.  Mooretown would need to capatalize on their opportunities on this stingy defensive team.  It was a close battle but in the end, Mooretown Flags Red would come out on top with a 2-1 victory.  Players that would score for Mooretown would be Carter Hawkins and Dylan Dupuis.

Both games saw Travis Morningstar once again be stellar in net for the Flags and gave us a chance to gain some much need points heading into the final games of our regular season.
