Black Flags Salvage a 3-3 Tie Against Mooretown Red And No Longer Have Their Destiny In Their Hands
It was round 4 of the battle of the Mooretown Peewee teams and it was another doozie as Mooretown Black again scored in the last minute of the game to squeak out a 3-3 tie.

It was a quick turnaround after an emotional win in West Lorne the night before as The Black Flags would play their final round robin playoff game against Mooretown Red.  A win and Mooretown Black would lock up second and a place in the finals.  A tie left the door open for South Kent who are 4 points back with 2 games in hand.  Mooretown Red was ready to face their cross rink rivals and set for another emotional game.  Mooretown Red had the spring in their step as they got on Mooretown Black off the hop as the Black Flags struggles to find their legs.  Mooretown Red would use their speed to score first as Carter Hawkins fired one home off a pass from Connor Murphy to make it 1-0 Red 5:12 into the first.  Mooretown Black would get their first power play opportunity of the night as Bidaaske Nahdee would get called for a very questionable tripping penalty but Mooretown Red proved they were up to the task of killing the penalty to keep the score 1-0.   Both teams would trade a few chances as that seemed to wake up Mooretown Black but the period would end 1-0 for Red.  Shots on goal favored Black 5-4.  Mooretown Black looked a little better in the second and it would be Dallas Mesko who would get the equalizer as him and Hannah MacNeil would be right on the door step off a Colton Beauvais shot to tie the game at one 1:26 into the period.  Mooretown Red would answer right back less than 2 minutes later as Carter Hawkins again used his speed to break in on Gladwish and beat him high with 9:06 left in the period.  Sebastian Fraser would garner the assist.  But the one goal lead would last just 7 seconds as Colton Beauvais would grab the puck on the face off and wire one passed Travis Morningstar to tie the game at 2.  It should be mentioned that both goalies had great games between the pipes and made some very tough saves along the way. Colton Beauvais and Brad Atchison would get tangled up on the boards and both would go to the box with 5 minutes remaining in the second as the teams kept the game close checking after the three goal outburst.  The second would end a 2-2 tie setting up a barn burner of a third.  Shots on goal were 9-4 for Mooretown Black.  The Black Flags would go on the power play quickly in the third as Connor Murphy would get tagged for a trip 40 second into the period.  Coltan Beauvais would get into a shoving match with Ian Blair in front of the Red net and the ref would send both of them to the box just 17 seconds later.   It would be Mooretown Red who would take advantage however as Sebastian Fraser got behind the Black defense and fired one off of Colin Gladwish to score short-handed and make it 3-2.  Mooretown Black would not score on the remainder of the power play.  Once again the Black Flags found themselves down a goal with time running out.  Sebastian Fraser would get called for a trip with 1:10 left and Mooretown would for third time in four games be forced to pull their goalie.  This time is was MacKenzie Lumley who would play the hero as he fired one five hole in the 6 on 4 advantage to tie the game at 3 with 12.5 seconds remaining in the game Lucas Rodey would get the assist for a great pass to find Mac.  Shots on goal in the third were 5-5 for a game total of 19-13 in favor of Mooretown Black.  All in all a great game between the two teams again.  MacKenzie Lumley would tear half a logo off teh Octopus for the last time for his game tying goal.  Mooretown Red will face South Kent tomorrow night in Mooretown as Mooretown Black can only sit a watch the scoreboard to see if they will remain second.
