Novice AE Consolation Winners!
The novice AE team were in Aylmer, ON this past weekend for the annual March Break Tourney.

The boys got a slow start Friday against a tough West London team to start things off.  The final score was 6-3 for London, but the game was back and forth until the 3rd period when London was able to make the game out of reach.  It was the only game for the boys on Friday, and #17 Johnny McLaughlin took home the first Player of the Game trophy for Mooretown during the tourney.

After a fun time back at the hotel, the next morning the boys were ready for Shamrock rival Lambeth.  They were able to hold the lead at 2-1 until the last two minutes of the third period when Lambeth snuck one past Ceager.  A couple of good end-of-the-game rushes led to no avail for the boys, however, and they ended up tying Lambeth 2-2 in the end.  For his effort in the net, #31 Ceager MacDonald took home Player of the Game.

Up next were the Stratford Warriors, a team the boys were unfamiliar with, yet very hopeful to beat so they could secure a spot in the Consolation Final.  The boys really pulled together, their playmaking to each other was some of the best seen all year, and they were able to walk away with a 6-1 win over the Warriors and advance to play Sunday.  #4 Dillon McCowan took home Player of the Game.

Sunday afternoon, the last game of the tourney, final for the year, was against another Shamrock rival - the Strathroy Jr. Rockets.  The boys knew they were in for a fight as the record on the year versus Strathroy was 1-1-1... this was essentially the Consolation Final and the rubber match between the two squads.  But after three nail biting periods, Mooretown was able to defeat Strathroy 4-3 and take home the BRONZE MEDAL as Consolation Winners! #16 Ethan Rosseel was chosen for the last Player of the Game trophy of the tournament - way to go E!

All in all, the boys had a very fun time in Aylmer over the weekend and it's always nice to end the season on a high note.  The coaches were very proud of the team for their performance and were impressed by their degree of sportsmanship.  We wish the best of luck to the boys next year on their future teams! It was a real pleasure to coach this great group of kids this past season!

Thanks boys! The coaches!
