Highs and Lows… The Tale Of The Weekend For Flags Who Score A Win And A Loss.
The Mooretown Jr. Flags would score their first win of the early season 8-2 over Dresden at home but follow it up with a lack luster performance on the road in Wallaceburg losing 5-2

The Mooretown Jr. Flags would look for their first win as the hit the ice Saturday midday against the Dresden Jr. Kings.  Mooretown would see 7 different scorers in the game and blew things open at the end of the first with 3 goals in under 1 minute.  Jacob Williams would garner the first goal with assists to Dallas Mesko and Ryan Coene at the 9:20 mark.  The three goal outburst would see Coltan Beauvais score from Noah O’Neil followed by Noah O’Neil from Dallas Mesko and Coltan Beauvais and the third in a minute would come Ryan Coene with assists to Noah O’Neil and Jacob Williams staking the Flags to a 4-1 lead at the end of the first.  Abe Plain would make it 5-1 with 7:08 left in the second with assists to Anthony Plain and Ryan Coene.  Mooretown would go up 6-1 as Devin Dewhirst scored with helpers from Josh Klompstra and Chloe Plain.  Anthony Plain would get mixed up with a Dresden player at the end of the second and both players would get 2 and a 10 to start the third. Coltan Beauvais would notch his second of the game early in the third with an assist to Noah O’Neil.  But Dresden would answer back with their second of the game to make it 7-2.  Dallas Mesko would wrap up the scoring with 5:46 left in the third with assists to Coltan Beauvais and Noah O’Neil making it 8-2. Colin Gladwish would face 20 shots for his first win of the season between the pipes.

Mooretown would hope to use some of the scoring touch from the last game as they travelled to Wallaceburg to play the Lakers who had beaten Mooretown 4-1 earlier in the season.  To start the game Mooretown seemed to be on the same page as the previous day scoring first as Chloe Plain buried one from the slot on a nice feed from Ryan Coene to make it 1-0 just 24 seconds into the game.  Anthony Plain would get the assist.  Mooretown would get a power play chance shortly after their only one of the game but would not manage to get a shot on net.  Mooretown would get a few other chances and Colin Gladwish would turn away anything thrown at him and the game would stay 1-0 after 1.  Shots on goal favored Mooretown 11-8 in the first.  As the second started Wallaceburg looked a little more like the team that had been successful in Mooretown a week earlier as they started to take the play to Mooretown.  Colin Gladwish would let one slip by him from a bad angle and the game would be tied at 1 just 2:27 into the second.  Mooretown rebounded well and would take the lead again just 2:13 later as Coltan Beauvais scored unassisted to make it 2-1.  But that would be the last of the offense from the Flags.  Wallaceburg would tie it at 2 with 3:07 remaining in the second as a puck slipped under the handle of Gladwish’s goal stick.  Wallaceburg would follow up with the go ahead goal just 27 second later to take a 3-2 lead.    Gladwish would be the busier of the goalies in the second as Wallaceburg outshot Mooretown 15-3.  Wallaceburg would continue the onslaught to start the third and would score 1:17 in to make it 4-2 as Mooretown looked to have lost the wind in their sails.  MacKenzie Lumley would go to the box for hooking with 12:31 left in the third but the Penalty kill would keep it a 4-2 game. The Lakers would make it 5-2 on a rebound goal with 9:17 remaining.  Anthony Plain would go to the box for Cross checking with 3:42 left in the third but nothing would com of the power play for Wallaceburg.  Coltan Beauvais would be handed a body contact penalty in the final minute of the game but nothing would come of that power play either for Wallaceburg.  Shots on goal in the third favored Wallaceburg 15-4 for a game total of 39-18 for the game.
