Novice Girls Home For The Weekend
December 5, 6, 2015 Mooretown ON

The Novice Girls played 2 hard battles this Foggy December weekend.  The Bad Girls traveled to Mooretown Saturday for the final showdown of the regular season with the Flags.

The girls were unsuccessful in a pair of games 2 weeks ago  against the B.A.D. Blazers.... but sparks began to fly after 6 periods of no goals for the flags. Midway through the 3rd of the second game, Avery Hands banked it off her opponent with 9 minutes remaining to open the scoring.  Then 30 seconds later Hands passed one to Jaelyn Devine who set up Lilly Firth for a good goal on the play.

The Flags continued on their skill development in this weekends game, allowing 1 goal through the majority of the first 2 periods of play.  But the Bad Girls Managed to control most of the third period putting three quick ones in.  The flags picked up the pace for the final 2 minutes resulting in Avery putting one in the back of the net, to make the final score 4-1 for the Bad girls.

On Sunday, the Lady Flags hosted the St. Mary’s Rock. Who they battled with last weekend.  The girls came out flying and ready to play. The girls did their best to keep the St. Mary’s attack under control but were down 3-0 by the end of the first.  The Lady Flags did not give up and were rewarded when Jaelyn Devine showed us what she’s got today on several occasions.  She opened the scoring with a nice skate down the ice splitting the Rock’s defence to score with a hard shot to the back of the net. The Rock got another goal to make it 4-1, but again the Flags did not let up and this resulted in yet another goal.  Meekah Dewhirst wired one in from the point resulting in a tip from Kylie Slater and the puck fired home by Addison Macleod who came in crashing the net. All three recorded a point on the play. This made it 4-2 at the end of the second period.  The girls continued their new and improved aggressive ways when Jaelyn took control and passed the puck to Lilly Firth who took the puck and crashed the net with a nice goal to make it 4-3 for the Rock with 3:36 left in the third.  The Rock were able to make some fancy moves on our defence and scored twice late in the game to defeat the Flags 6-3, but  the girls all had a great game, not letting up and deserving a huge high five for their effort.

Next week, the Girls travel to Stratford for their first match up with the Aces on Saturday at 12:30 and host the BCH Ice Stars on Sunday at 3:35pm.
