MTMHA T.C Tournament Weekend !!
A Super weekend of "FUNtastic" hockey was played hard by our boys as this team took took to the ice early Friday morning..

I hope everyone enjoyed this weekends hockey ..and for some of our parents with more than 1 player in MTMHA it was a very busy time and may as well slept at the arena. Well worth it and very exciting to watch our teams progress this season pay off in this 4 game round robin. We definitely showed up to play with a win today and a 1 tie / 2 loss game sheet. Considering our loss games were a 2-1 & 3-0...Thats pretty darn good ..and we are so proud of you boys. Congratulations team !!

Heres some highlights from these 4 games..Friday morning we took to the ice facing off with the Wallaceburg lakers and both teams showed up to play hard and it wasn't until late in the second period that the Lakers scored the games first goal. Soon into the second ...Patrick Brown landed the Jr.Flags their first goal with a sweet pass from our player #8... Yes thats right... Samuel Rodey gained control of that puck and sent a fantastic pass to the stick of #19.. Good things happen when you stay in the play.. Great work Samuel and keep up the hard work !! Patrick will be a "assist" to our "captain"... And he deserves it ..way to go Paddy!! Wallace burg would land their second goal with 2:05 to go in the third and it looked like we may not win this game ..But our boys had the right attitude and never gave up at all and with 1:30 to go coach Brian pulled Nolan of the ice and we had the 6 man advantage..Great idea and we charged their end hard as Reed Mathieson got a beauty rebounder from Patrick Browns attempt at that net and the Jr.Flags tied er up...Oh man..Total excitement on that ice and the bench. Great job team..Rule#1.. Never..Ever.. Give Up. And for that we tied the first game..Awesome !!

Friday afternoon we were back when Jr.Flags vs Thorton Tigers which proved to be more of a game of hold back and defend our end as this game started. Tigers definitely advanced through the neutral zone well and into our end and Nolan faced 37 shots ..with only 3 getting passed our determined goalie. Incredible work between those pipes Nolan.. "High 5 Buddy".. Sometimes we do get our chances out there but the opposing team is hard to beat because they also want the exact same thing that our team is trying to achieve.. thats hockey ..and so much is learned every team you face. We did a fantastic job trying to penetrate their zone but we were kinda lacking that "Hungry For The Puck" attitude through some of that game in their end and we shouldn't have hesitated as much as we were. Not meant in a bad way at all because we did play well.. we just could have played a bit harder ..As part of your team staff we all learn and as we progress this season ..these are things we will work on and together @ practice to better our hockey skills. Tigers getting a late 3rd period goal from a bad shot deflection from our players stick didn't let the boys down for long ..and like I said we played hard to keep that open net from swallowing another puck as all players playing very defensively and maintaining our tie game ..Having tied that game against Thorton proves that never giving up is really the key in everyday life ..and in hockey. I also would like to mention that we played that game short handed with Samuel Rodey and Devon Zink unable to play unfortunately. We still managed to play hard and have fun doing it..Great game!!

Saturday morning came fast and both Jr.Flag Atom teams showed up to play..Not sure if it was the awesome morning arena horns and music or our team ate their Wheeties before the game ..but we came out hard and played their end a lot cycling that puck well , but it still took till the 2nd until team White landed the 1st goal unassisted by Patrick Brown gaining us the momentum we need. Wasn't 20 seconds later team Black got their first goal.. And from there we continued to play hard and fast ..and so did they firing 26 more shots at Nolan and charging that net. A late 3rd period decision to pull Nolan from the net would start out fast and hard but was quickly shot down with team White taking a penalty.. But again we never gave up keeping Nolan out and creating a all out fight for that puck control..Beautiful as Team White dominated that ice for a full 1:45 secs and had multiple shots not their net as well as defending hard..Great Defense boys.. Things may gotten heated up on Team Blacks bench .. oh well the tunes were "ROCK'N" and Team white was determined all the way to the end.. Well done team!!

Sundays game proved we are definitely gelling well as a team that gets along great and all that positive energy is the glue for our key to success.. Man.. What a game today as it really was intense for the 1st 19 minutes as our team did dominate the ice but it wasnt untill16.5 seconds left when Nicolaas Gerrits had a picture perfect "Wrist'r Rebounder" from Patrick Browns attempt at the net.. But it all started with the "D" creating the play and thanks to all our Defence players because sometimes those assists get missed ,,,but no worries as we always look for these playmakers and this time Daden Sheldon started this play which was the only goal this game and took us to our first win of the tourney..Daen will also wear a well deserved "A" on his jersey..  Hey guess what??..Nolan only faced 7 shots on our net today and gained his 2nd "Shutout" this season..Kudos to Nolan ..And that proves we had great puck control today and played dominating defence.. Well done team!!

Thanks to all that helped out ..Shannon Sheldon, Sheila Johnston..Thank you ladies.. Our coach staff.. D.J Gerrits and his rock crew.. Doug Zink & Scott Mathieson for "ROCK'nTHE CLOCK"for the team ( which i may add was very sweet and did add a lot to our games).. Brian Beaudoin for being a great coach and always smiling !!

The team picked their "C" & "A's" today.. Reed Mathieson will lead this team as Captain. Daden Sheldon and Patrick Brown will be assistants to the captain.. Congratulations boys and we know you will be awesome team leaders . We also will be floating around #16 jersey at every game with the "A" on it as a extra assistant... pretty cool ehh..and these players will be determined @ practice each week and wear that jersey the next game ..or after a double weekender game we will do it after the game. Keep up the team spirit !!

A very special Congrats to our Pee Wee T.C team as they took the tourney in a 5 game sweep for the Championship..Wow what a action packed weekend had by all... "FUNtastic"

Thanks Team...."GO Jr.Flags"
