Jr.Flags vs Lightning...Jr.Flags vs Bullets
The teams Hockey Highlights for this week as we enter the Holliday Season..Our teams staff want to wish everyone a "Very Merry Christmas"... And hope we all have a Safe Holliday Season !!.....
With 2 games this week before Christmas I haven't posted from the game we had on Thursday night in Mooretown against the Lightning. I will start by saying that game was very well played against the 3rd place team in our division as our boys held control of the puck and taking a lot of shots on their net,, but the Lightning goalie wasn't letting anything past him,, but our team never gave up. Nice work boys. Down 2 players and running 2 straight lines is something our team wasn't use to doing but handled very well. Our forward line advanced deep into the zone for some awesome opportunities on the net and all players looking for them rebounds. Defence once again keeping them back and making sure that puck stayed in the Lightnings end as all "D" very strong and doing a fantastic job. The only thing stopping our team from taking this game was the unfortunate penalties we took,, Lightning scoring both goals on a Power Play advantage. Still our team played strong never giving up, and then with 50 seconds to go we pulled out Nolan and had the 6 player advantage which was working very well but the Lightning gained control scoring on a open net for the 3rd goal.. Other than the penalty kills ,, our team was neck and neck in this game and a huge "High Five" goes out to all players. A special thanks goes to our defensive players having the extra workload on the ice when we are down players and having to give it 110% all the time.. Jace Johnston, Alex Blair, Jesse Knight and Patrick Brown.. your team "Thanks You". Nic Gerrits wore the #16 "A" jersey this game and he made several attempts at that net,, Jack Font receiving the jersey after the game for all his hard work on the ice. Samuel Rodey wore the Golden Jersey home for his continued efforts out their on the ice almost scoring a goal as he was in the right spot at the right time in front of the net.. This team may have lost the game ,, but we continue to learn from every game ,, and we all go home Champions ,, and thats what its all about !!
Todays game in Glencoe with Jr.Flags vs Bullets was intense for 2 periods as you would have never known Bullets are struggling and are in the bottom of our division because they really came out to play. Jr.Flags not scoring until late in the 2nd when one of our "D" Patrick Brown received a sweet assist from Jack Font and charged the net with a beauty wrist'r right on target. Patrick continued to force the plays scoring again with 1:54 left to go with another pass from Jack Font and Samuel Rodey starting this play with a pass out to front of the net,, WOW,, what more can I say. Nic Gerrits started the puck cycle with a pass to out front when Reed Mathieson fired a beauty shot on net and guess what ??.. There was our Fired up Forward Devon Zinc in the perfect rebounder spot and Yep..Devin nailed it putting us up 3 -0 with only 9 secs to go in the 2nd... So our team definitely had the momentum into the 3rd ,, but Lightning picking up speed firing 2 quick goals in within the first 3 minutes of the period. The game seemed to pick up speed and both teams working hard and fast to score. Between the pipes Nolan Beaudoin had his hand full facing 30 shots this game so it really was all about Nolan for a few minutes... Great job Buddy!! With 4 mins to go our Capt Reed Mathieson landed our insurance goal we needed to seal the deal with another rebounder shot from Patrick Brown.. Good Job Team!!
Jace Johnston took the well deserved #16 "A" jersey today and it was all smiles from this defence as he left the arena.. Fantastic work Jace.
Theres no hockey this week until Sunday Dec.27 when we face the West Lorne Comets. HO HO HOPE WE WIN !!
