Tourney Finalists: Atom AE Bests Several Rep Teams
The Mooretown Junior Flags, Atom AE team returned with silver medals from the Rising Stars Tourney on Sunday! The Atom AE team was the only ‘AE’ team in the tourney as three other ‘Rep’ teams stood in their way.  While the other team may have won, Mooretown were truly the rising stars of the tourney.

The Atom AE team began with a decisive victory vs. The Howick Hornet Rep team on Friday.  They blasted 6 goals to the Hornet’s 1.

The Atom  AE Jr. Flags faced a stiff test on Saturday vs. the Huron Bruce Blizzard Atom Rep team, who came into the tourney with 22 wins and top of their rep league.  The Atom AE team came out on top 3-1.  This propelled the Atom AE Flags into the tournament finals.

The Flags were set back vs. the Central Perth Predators Atom Rep team. In the final round robin game. They dropped the contest 7-3, however this set up a rematch in the tournament finals.

Sunday revealed a Mooretown team with determination, resolve, and courage.  Mooretown took on the Predators for all the marbles.  A tight 1st period, became a close 2nd period.  Each time the Central Perth team, a rep team loaded with second year players, struck a blow, the Jr. Flags AE team responded.  The game ended in a 2-2 tie.  Overtime solved nothing.  The game was decided in a shoot out.  Mooretown was one goal short.

Paxton was a brick wall in net stoping both blizzards and predators.  Tucker stood tall between the pipes swatting away hornets! Tanin, Adam, Hudson and Graeme played solid D and didn’t give an inch to swooping predators.   Cole, Kale, Klarke, Gavin, Chase, and Cohen made plays to light the lamp like a snowplow clearing a blizzard!    Ewan and Max stomped the hornets with a fierce forecheck and lots of 2 way hockey in the offensive and defensive zones.

The Flags were guided by their head coach, Jason McLean.  Andrew Melville, Adam Oblak, Joe Rodrigues, Aaron Ticknor and Ryan Scott kept coaching the boys down the straight and narrow path to victory.
