Third Time’s A Charm - Atom AE are Liftlock Tourney Champs
The Mooretown Junior Flags, Atom AE team entered the largest Atom hockey tournament in North America with big expectations.  They returned champions with the medals, banner and trophy to prove it.  They dominated their division and finished with a ‘breakfast of champions’ Sunday morning game.

The Atom AE team began with a decisive victory vs. North Durham on Friday.  They blasted 3 goals to the Hornet’s 0.   Big time shutout, big time effort.

Saturday was a long day of hockey.  Three games!   The morning began with a 3-3 tie against the South Muskoka Bears on Saturday morning.  However the team rebounded by trouncing the Oshawa Junior Generals 7-0.  This setup a Saturday night semi-final rematch with the Bears from South Muskoka.

In the semi-finals, the Atom AE team left no doubt that they wanted a place in the Sunday morning championship.  Mooretown was able to bring their determination, skill, and effort to the game.  This time there was no doubt.  They snacked on South Muskoka like bear paws at lunch time.  Winning the semi-final game 6-1.

Sunday was funday! Time for memories to be made.  The Atom AE took on St. Thomas at the Peterborough Pete’s home rink.  The Atom AE team sniffed victory and never let up, winning 7-2.  The banner - check.  The medals - check.  The trophy - check.  The third was the championship charm.  This was the second year in a row the Mooretown Atom AE team brought home the Liftlock tourney championship.

The team feasted on their opposition like they were eating a breakfast of champions.  Tucker guarded the twine and made opposing teams into shredded wheat!  Paxton was a master of the blue ice in net feasting on pucks like cheerios.  Ewan and Max played 2 way hockey in the offensive and defensive zones like two scoops of raisons in raisin bran.  Tanin, Adam, Hudson and Graeme played solid D and didn’t give an inch to the other team’s frosted flakes.   Cole, Kale, Klarke, Gavin, Chase, and Cohen made plays to light the lamp proving their goals were no lucky charms, but all skill!

The Flags were guided by their head coach, Jason McLean.  Andrew Melville, Adam Oblak, Joe Rodrigues, Aaron Ticknor and Ryan Scott kept coaching the boys down the straight and narrow path to victory.
