Face Off For Mental Health .... MTMHA Is Going GREEN!
Mooretown Minor Hockey Association has teamed up with St. Clair Child & Youth Services in support of the "Face Off For Mental Health" campaign among hockey associations across Sarnia-Lambton.

We are participating in this important county wide campaign to raise awareness of mental health issues for children and youth.

We were so proud of our association for embracing this initiative last year in its inaugural year and we are happy to support it again in year two!

It is a fact that 1 in 5 children are struggling with a mental health issue.  That is one player on every line, approximately 3-4 players on any given team from Instructional to Juvenile.

So here is what we are going to do ..... November is Mental Health Awareness Month at MTMHA!

We have chosen the weekend of November 10th & 11th to wrap our sticks in green in support of Mental Health Awareness at our arena & in our community. This will serve as a visual reminder for our players, coaches, fans and executive. If any players want to wear green laces in November this would also be great.

St. Clair Child & Youth Services will be set up at our arena on the 10th and 11th to provide information to parents and answer any questions. They also have a fun surprise for the kids planned! All players and coaches will be given Face Off For Mental Health helmet stickers as well as pins for their jackets.

Mooretown Minor Hockey Association will be donating all gate fees, 50/50 profits (thank you Hockey Moms) & any donations taken in this weekend as well to St.Clair Child & Youth Services. On top of this, MTMHA will be matching whatever the total is from the weekend.

By starting this conversation within our arena, it will help raise awareness and stop the stigma surrounding mental health.    All teams across the organization from Instructional to Juvenile will be asked to take part in this. The green tape will be supplied by MTMHA and distributed to coaches within the next week.

We would like to thank Liz and Marilyn from SCCYS for leading our "Coaches Bench Talk"  and to all who attended this past Monday!

If you have any questions please feel free to contact MTMHA Director of Communication, Kaylen Burgess.

Thank you for your participation in this event!

Let's get the conversation started!
