Coming off a 8-0 barrage courtesy of the Strathroy Rockets on Thursday night, the team headed eastbound to Brantford to begin the battle for the Caledonia Challenge Cup.
Their first matchup would be against the Tilsonburg Tornadoes at the Hagersville arena.
The opponent got the jump on the Storm quickly in the first netting two goals to make our team play catch-up. The Storm not to be outdone by the other weather system came back hard with winds of its own in the second to provide an entertaining tilt for the visiting fans. At the end of the period, the score was tied at 4 a side courtesy of goals by Coene, Prudom, Brown, and Smith with the defense keeping the damage to a dull roar. The final frame had fans on the edge of their seats with the game still tied and some valuable tournament points at stake. The Tornadoes however showed that they had the mighty windspeed scoring the game winner with just 1:58 left in the game.
It was a hard loss but a good effort by Mooretown and some momentum to carry them to the next game at 4:00 against the Hespeler Shamrocks.
