Families First Tournament Weekend
The Mooretown Atom Black Team participated in the Families First Tournament this past weekend in Windsor. The whole team was able to make it to the tournament and have fun on and off the ice!
The team played great all weekend and gave it their all. They held nothing back and represented Mooretown very well. Very proud of everything they accomplished.
The team received an awesome surprise before the first game. The coaches presented the team and team staff with new Camo Jersey's!!!! The team was very excited and pumped to do their very best to make everyone proud of them. BIG Thank You Zach, Jen, Dan, Rick and ZGC Civil Group for the New Camo Jersey's!!!!
The team took the ice for the first game with their new Jersey's on and won their first game of the tournament. The Jersey's made an impression. The team was asked to have a photo taken so that it can be displayed at the Memorial Arena.
The tournament highlights:
MVP's: Ryan(Defense), Andrew(Center) and Nicholas(Goalie)
The team won 2 games and tied 1 in the round robin games.
Game 1, the team won 4-1 against Riverside Green Goblins: Goals made by Andrew and Garret, 2 each. Assist by Kayla.
Game 2, the team tied 4-4 against Caledonia: Goals made by Kayla, Garret, Ryan and Andrew. Assists made by Andrew, Derek, Garret and Noah. The goal that tied up the game was made by Andrew with .1 seconds left on the score clock.... and the crowd went wild...!!!!
Game 3, the team won 4-1 against Riverside Silver Backs: Goals made by Garret with 3 and Connor 1. Assists made by Brayden, Noah, Ryan and Andrew.
YEAH ... We made it to the Semi Finals:
Semi-Finals, the team lost 4-2 to Tilbury: Goals made by Sam and Andrew. Assists made by Teagan, Ryan and Derek. This game was close. Our team should be very proud, our Team was the first team to score on Tilbury in the tournament. Tilbury came into the semi-finals with 3 shutout games in the round robins. With less than two minutes to go, the game score at 3-2, we had nothing to lose so we pulled the goalie to try our best to get another goal, unfortunately Tilbury scored their 4th goal of the game. The team and coaches held nothing back and played a great game.
A quick congratulations to Strathroy Red Rockets for Winning the Tournament!!! Great Job!!!
Our team should be proud of how they played and how far they have come this year. We made it to the semi-finals, 4th out of 16 atom teams at the tournament. A Great Accomplishment!!!
The team and families had fun all weekend. The team played well on the ice and off the ice. The families filled in time between games with the pool, mini sticks and Birthday celebrations.
