Novice Girls Settle In To Season
Mitchell Ontario 11/07/2015

The girls jetted up to Mitchell on the weekend to kick off their 14 game regular season.  The girls were short staffed for the entire game with an eventual line up of 9.  Scoring was opened up by Addison Macleod with a hard shot through the five hole off a nice pass from Mackenzie Duncan just under 3 minutes into the game.  Just a few minutes later Lily Firth potted one after receiving a pass from Ella Routley and Addison Macleod. Routley and Firth both demonstrated their skills on a few rips down the ice with the puck and some great shots on net.  The Meators got one with 8 seconds left in the first and tied it up midway through the 2nd.  With just 18  seconds left in the second,  Mad Mac took the puck in and scored to get the game winning goal.  Mekah Dewhirst was solid again in net on her second start of the year and Kendall Adams forced many pucks into the offensive zone, trapping the puck in the neutral zone on many key occasions.

Charlie and Eastyn Potvin returned to practice and Mekah Dewhirst returned to the player line up Monday.  The girls finished the” first half” with an 8 -1 record and are now focused on the 14 game regular season with one game under their belt.  The girls will practice Sunday at 3:35 and play an exhibition game at 5:55 Monday evening against the Petrolia Oilers in Mooretown. Then return to the regular season the following weekend with a much anticipated home and home series against the B.A.D. Girls.

The girls will be in the Corunna Santa Claus Parade on Saturday evening November 28th. They will play at 10am that day in Seaforth and return home with plenty of time to get the float ready for their evening cruise through town.  The girls also will be heading up a canned food drive with all donations going to the Inn of the Good Sheppard.
