Hello,
I hope everyone is ready for a great hockey season. I am looking forward
to meeting all the kids and parents. Unfortunately I will not be able to
make our first 2 practices this weekend but I don’t anticipate to miss many
after this.
The Coaching Staff for this year will be myself Kevin Slater, Matt Armstrong,
Geoff Dale, Joe Rodrigues and Jason Burgess.
This weekend, Geoff will be at practice
both days and will run the practices along with Dean Dereven who is the coach
for the Tyke Blue team. We will be sharing our practice time with Tyke Blue throughout
the season.
This weekend, we have practice Saturday at 9:35am on rink 1 and a practice on
Sunday at 8:10am on rink 2.
We will practice for the next 2 weeks on both Saturday and Sunday. Watch
the schedule as it gets updated. The early practice will be rotated between
teams each Sunday. In three weeks (Saturday Oct. 9th) we plan to
organize a game with the Tyke Blue team and practice on Sunday. Then on
October 16th the season will begin and include the 2 teams from Petrolia.
We will travel to Petrolia every few weeks for a game. Sunday will be slated
as practice time throughout the season.

Each week we will have a different player play goalie.
We will likely set a schedule for this. If your child does not wish to play
net, they are definitely NOT obligated to, when their turn comes up, but will
be encouraged. Goalies will practice as goalie the Sunday before the Saturday
game they are playing as goalie.
As of now, we have 11 skaters. So this will work well, as it will provide
2 lines and a goalie. This will maximize ice time during games and keep
the players from sitting to long.
We will hand out Jersey's and Socks on the weekend of October 1. Also on
Sunday October 2nd, after practice we will have a team meeting, so both coaches
and Parents are on the same page for the season.
We will need to have parents volunteer to run the clock throughout the
year. We will likely set a schedule for this.
If you are interested in volunteering as our Hockey Mom for this year let me
know. We will require one parent to take this role. Full Volunteer
hours will be given to the person who accepts this role.
