It was a much closer game than the score shows as Point Edward downed East Gwillimbury 5-2 in the Midget Finals
The Point Edward Blackhawks went six and oh as they downed East Gwillimbury Eagles 5-2 in the finals. The Eagles would open the scoring as Jon Maiuri scored 5:07 into the first with assists going to Michael Lake and Zach Dickens. The score would remain 1-0 through the rest of the 1st. Point Edward would even the score 2:43 into the second as N. Gladwish would notch his first of 5 on the day on the powerplay with assists to J. Horner and N. Young. The score would remain tied at 1 through 2. Point Edward would grab a 2-1 lead just 20 seconds into the 3rd as N Gladwish would score assisted by R. Boccanfuso. The Eagles tie it back up at the 7:06 mark on a goal by Jacob Widdis with an assist to Cameron McMurray. The Blackhawks would get the eventual game winner by Gladwish unassisted just 38 seconds later to go up 3-2. Point Edward would go up 4-2 as Gladwish tallied at 3:21 and then add an empty net goal with 42 seconds remaining to make the final 5-2.
