Midget's Win St. Mary's Local League Tournament
Submitted By Director of Communications on Monday, January 7, 2019
After a slow start the Midget Jr. Flags won when it counted most to take home the Gold Medals at the St. Mary's Local League Tournament with a 5-1 win over the Paris Wolfpack.

The Mooretown Jr. Flags started slowly at the St. Mary's Tournament as they fell Friday night 6-1 to the Paris Wolfpack in round robin play.  Mooretown gave up 5 goals in the first 6 minutes of the game and never recovered from the slow start.  Saturday the Flags would play a very chippy game against the Tillsonburg Tornadoes.  Tillsonburg would take the game 5-1.  The Flags would need a win against the Langton Leafs to get to the Semi-finals as both teams were 0-2 entering the contest.  Mooretown would get the job done with a dominating 7-1 win over Langton.

Sunday was elimination day as the Flags would face the Mooretown "Rise Up" Cup Champion Kent Black team from Tilbury.  The game would go to OT as the Flags scored a 2-1 victory to set up a rematch against the Paris Wolfpack a team that had beaten Mooretown in their 2 previous meetings at tournaments this season.

The Jr. Flags would jump out to an early lead and never look back as the allowed a late goal but scoring a 5-1 win to take the title!

Congratulations!!
