Atom Rep: International Champs. Legends Last Forever (4 Championships)
The Mooretown Junior Flags, Atom Rep team went into the International Silverstick Finals in Forest with one goal. The team wrote a story that will never be forgotten.  They secured the first Atom B International Silverstick for Mooretown.  This was the 3rd straight Atom B regional champ to gain entry into the International Finals.  They dominated their division and vanquished a shootout loss beating Penetang (the #4 B team in Ontario) to win Sunday afternoon’s championship game.  There is no doubt, this is a superhero performance.

The Atom rep team began with a decisive victory vs. Kincardine on Friday.  They blasted 5 goals to 0.   They found the back of the net, like Daredevil sees with sonar-like senses.  Big time shutout, big time effort.  That was followed up with a tough and epic game vs Penetang.  Mooretown was down by one goal with seconds left, but scored like The Flash as the clocked ticked down.  Unfortunately the final score was on the Penetang side, with a shoot out victory for the Flames.

Saturday was an opportunity to enjoy a doubleheader of hockey and changed the script.    The morning began with the Flags dethroning the previously undefeated Kemptville Royals with a 6-1 victory.  The team then calmed the Listowel Cyclones beating them 4-0.  The Mooretown Atom Rep team had transformed into The Hulk, a raging creature of limitless strength.  This epic Saturday vaulted the Flags into the Finals on Sunday.

In the Finals, the Atom Rep team had a rematch with Penetang.  They were ‘The Punisher’ and tried to enact vengeance on the team that had handed them their only loss of the International Finals.  The final game was a nail biter but the Flags were victorious by breaking a scoreless game open in the 3rd period.  The 2-1 final left no doubt.  It is moment when legends emerge and memories will never be forgotten.  International Champs means that the Flags will be in the Hockey Hall of Fame!

The team vanquished their foes like superheroes.  Liam shielded the net like Captain America, actually he is Captain Canada! Ewan and Klarke played 2 way hockey in the offensive and defensive zones with the ferocity of Wolverine.  Oden, Graeme, Daynen and Cole played solid D and protected the Mooretown end with armour like Iron Man.   Cole, Drew, Ryan, Max, Chase and Tucker made plays to set each other up and light the lamp swooping into the other team’s zone like Spiderman!

The Flags were guided by their head coach, Ian Snedden, and the staff of Adam Teschke, Aaron Ticknor, Shawn Lajoie, and Ryan Scott who kept coaching the boys down the straight and narrow path to victory.  They avoided the Kryptonite and made sure these Supermen would be champs.
