Dear MTMHA parents and players;
(U5, U7 & U9 Players)
As we are sure you all are aware, the Moore Sports Complex has been opened without spectators at this time. This has caused several of the parents some severe concerns, especially at our younger age groups. The executive of MTMHA shares these concerns, and have voiced our concerns to both township staff and St. Clair Township council.
Yesterday afternoon, September 8, we spoke as a delegation to council, and once again, voiced these concerns.
A recording of this meeting is available online. Unfortunately, council has decided to wait for a decision on whether or not spectators will be allowed until September 21, at the earliest.
While we are very confident in our memberships abilities to adhere to the strict guidelines in place, another few weeks of uncertainty for parents, and ultimately, our young players, is not an ideal situation for anyone.
Therefore,this morning, we have booked our U9 and below (novice age groups) to start their seasons
October 3rd (
if prior to October 3rd St.Clair Township changes their spectator policy we will return to play in Mooretown), operating out of the Walpole Island Arena, which is presently allowing 1 parent/guardian per player for the first few weeks of the season at this point in time.
While we understand that the extra drive is an inconvenience, we feel that this is the best option available for us at this time. Final schedules and times are being determined, but a preliminary schedule is as follows:
Saturdays:
2:30PM, 3:30PM, 4:30PM - U9 (Novice) (Mixed Teams of Major/Minor)
Sundays:
2:00PM - U5 (Instructional) (
Each player may have a parent/guardian on the ice with them)
Coaches and teams will be determined in the next two weeks.
