A huge congratulations to our MTMHA U13 Local League 2 team who smashed all expectations at this past weekend’s Lefroy Lucky Puck Tournament held in the Barrie region. They placed a close second overall in the tournament.
Our goalie, Nash Hagan, was clearly the best goalie of the tournament having only 3 goals against all tournament and two shut out games. His hard work resulted in an award of the team tournament MVP title.
Our defense was formidable with Ryder Daye, Jett Vanderslagt, Myles Hobbs and Everett Stewart protecting their goalie, and shooting many rockets from the point. They held the blue line all weekend long. No other team’s D-line played like them. Our forwards, Trace Pocock, Ethyn Schenck, Aidan Schenck, Levi Leitch, Liam Braet, and Keaton Goertz kept up their speed, the pressure on the other teams, crashing the opponent’s net and battling hard, resulting in a total of 7 goals over the weekend.
Goals were executed by Keaton Goertz standing strong in the other team’s crease (x2), Aiden Schenck with super high energy and pressure throughout (x1); Levi Leitch, the fastest on our team- and outskating the opponents (x2), Everett Stewart top shelf from the blueline (x 1), and Myles Hobbs playing with tons of heart (x1).
Our winning team was guided to its success by Adam Schenck, Bill Schenck, Shawn Leitch and Randy Vanderslagt. These coaches added extra practices to ready our team for this tournament. Their efforts and commitment to the team have made a huge difference for the players and is reflected in this weekend’s success. They also made this tournament super fun and applied team building with planned team activities outside of the rink including tubing at Snow Valley.
To our team: your families and your association are all so very proud of you!
