MTMHA U13/U15 Checking Clinics – Sunday, June 25th
On
June
25th MTMHA & TPH (Total Package Hockey) will be hosting a free checking
clinic for MTMHA players in the
U13 (2011/2012) and
U15 (2009/2010) divisions.
For our
U13 age players
(2011/2012 birth
years), the purpose of this clinic will be an introduction to the key stages
and technique associated with the NCCP checking progression model and what
tactics can and can't be applied at the U13 level.
Realizing players do not get into full body checking until U15 age, many of these techniques should be applied throughout a player's development, and if taught effectively, can enhance a player's ability to control the puck, create quality scoring opportunities, ensure their own personal safety and develop confidence in how they play the game.
For our U15 age players (2009/2010 birth year) the
purpose of this clinic will be to continue teachings of the NCCP 4-step
progression model related to body checking including positioning & angling,
stick checks, contact confidence, and body checking.
