Have a 6, 7 or 8 year old daughter? We’re looking for Lady Flags!
The Mooretown Minor Hockey Association offers a robust girls hockey program, from Novice through to Bantam - and it's growing! ...
For the very first time, recruitment and development have exploded at the Novice level thanks to some committed coaching. As such, two teams will take the ice as Lady Flags in the Novice division. The first, under the direction of Coach Kevin Slater, will play at the C level. The second, under Coach Brian Jeffrey, will play at the House level.
Although both teams operate separately, they will most likely share at least some practice time and travel alongside each other to tournaments and special events.
The good news? We have room for one or two more players on the House level team.
Whether your daughter is new to skating, new to the game, or just looking for a new sport and a little competition and some big fun with the girls, please consider hockey as just the right fit for your family!
FAQ
My daughter has never put on skates, is that a problem?
Honestly, no. We’ve started seasons in the past with more than one player pushing around red skating helpers. If they want to play, or at least want to try, don't let the fact that the laces have never been done up deter you, or her!
I'm new to hockey, what do I need to know?
A few things will be enough to get you started. Registration is already open - so you can register now. The season lasts from September thru to April. Practice is typically once a week with one or two games on the weekend. House league is just a title. It's travel in that your games are at other centres and at home. Typical centres we travel to include Petrolia, Sarnia, St. Mary's - Dorchester is about the farthest.
Will my daughter be exposed to hockey legends?
Funny you should ask - Yes, every year for the past handful, our girls have met, taken photos with and gotten autographs from Walter Gretkzy!
