Novice Rep: Silver Stick International Champs
Submitted By Director of Communications on Sun 01 14, 18
The Mooretown Junior Flags, Novice Rep team claimed the International Silver Stick championship banner on Sunday at the Pelham tourney!  They are eager to hang it from the rafters of Rink 1 with their matching Regional Championship.

The team went 5-0-0 over the weekend which began with a 6-2 victory on Thursday vs. Hanover.  The Novice Jr. Flags continued the winning ways with a 6-0 win vs. Whitby.   The preliminary victories continued with a tight contest vs Campbellford 4-3 in Mooretown’s favour.  The Flags rode this wave of victories into the semi-finals on Saturday afternoon.  They revisited their previous foe, Hanover, and once again won 6-2.

Sunday brought a memory for a lifetime.  The Flags played a tight game in the Finals vs Wasaga Beach.  A back and forth game ended at 4-3 in favour of Mooretown who never trailed.  The Novice rep team will forever be the 2017-2018 International Champs.

Liam Lahey, the tender of the twine, kept the pucks at bay! Camden Campbell and Daynen Vanderveeken played a solid D.   Ryan Carlton, Chase Free, and Barrett Hands pushed forward and kept the opponents guessing!  Oden Lajoie and Graeme Hazzard kept the net clear of opposing goons.  Klarke McLaughlin, Drew Mullen, and Cole Scott kept the fiercely forecheck in the forefront.  Ewan Snedden and Ryan Teschke were punishing along the boards!

The Flags were guided by their head coach, Ross Carlton.  Todd Free, Ian Snedden, and Mike McLaughlin kept coaching the boys down the straight and narrow path to victory.
