Game 1 - Mooretown 2 Dorchester 3
The Storm were on the road on Thursday night to open their 2nd Round of OMHA Playdowns against the Dorchester Dragons. Playing on the small, old rink the game was a rough affair with a lot of hitting and grinding. The Storm battled through some tough weather to make it to the rink and then battled penalty trouble with Dorchester tying the game in the 3rd on a 5 on 3 power play and then getting another late goal to steal the game 3-2.
From the opening faceoff it was apparent that this series was going to be a war with the small rink and tight corners not allowing much room to do more than dump, chase and check. The Dragons drew first blood scoring with less than a minute to go in the 1st.
It took the Storm a while to adjust to the pace of the game but Greg Hay, assisted by Nolan Farr, scored the lone goal of the 2nd to tie the game. On the next shift the Storm found themselves shorthanded but did a great job killing the penalty. A shift later they were down a man again, this time for four minutes, but again held strong to keep the score tied heading into the final 15 minutes.
The Storm knew this game was one they could steal, and take home ice advantage along with it, and came out flying in the 3rd. Nolan Farr put the Storm in the lead three minutes in off a feed from Tanner Adams. However, it took only two shifts for the Storm to have two players sent to the box giving the home squad a 5 on 3 opportunity to tie the score. The Storm kept battling to regain the momentum but a late scramble allowed Dorchester to take the game and the series lead.
