Storm Save Best For Last In Overtime Thriller
The Mooretown Storm knew it was all over coming in, but that didn’t stop them from putting a total team effort into a 3-2 overtime win over Wallaceburg on home ice.  Logan Forbes had 2 goals including the OT winner and Hunter Seguin scored once.  Colin Gladwish was between the pipes in the win.

The Mooretown Storm were looking to end the season on a high note after a 2-2 OT tie on the road the day before.  Once again Coach Kyle was the head man with coach Steve away.  Also missing from the Storm lineup were Lucas Rodey and Jake Booth leaving Mooretown with 10 skaters and 2 goalies.  Ben Brant who had a spectacular game on Saturday against Belmont would support his comrades on the bench while Colin Gladwish played net.  Mooretown had faced Wallaceburg several time in league and exhibition and right from the start it seemed both teams would hold nothing back physically as the refs appeared happy to let them play.  The game would start on a rocky note as the Lakers would score just 19 seconds into the contest on a wraparound that Gladwish initially stopped but the Lakers kept poking at the loose puck until it crossed the line.  The Storm would shake it off quickly as Parker McKegan had a chance of his own at the opposite end.  The rest of the period was a rough one with a slight advantage to Wallaceburg though the shots that got through to either goalie were kept at a minimum.  Hunter Seguin would have a breakaway chance to tie but was denied by the Lakers goalie leaving the score at 1-0 after 1.  The referees started to find their whistles in the second as the game looked more like a Peewee contest than Atom and Ries Lopes was tagged for head contact.  Parker McKegan had a short- handed opportunity but couldn’t convert.  Mooretown would go down 2 players as the team was assessed a bench minor and would be down for 30 seconds.  Wallaceburg garnered a few chances that were turned away Gladwish and his sturdy defense.  The tide would turn as Wallaceburg would get the next penalty and the Storm would convert  with 4:35 remaining in the second Hunter Seguin fed Logan Forbes in the slot and he one-timed it to make it 1-1. The teams would head to the third tied.  The third once again saw Hunter Seguin on a breakaway in the first 30 seconds but the Lakers goalie once again had an answer. 2 minutes later Wallaceburg would head to the box again and Mooretown would convert.  Hunter Seguin pounded away at a loose puck and snuck it between the pad and the post to put the Storm up 2-1 with 12:24 remaining.  The rough play continued as the teams got more and more ornery with each other.  Evan Turner nearly made is a two goal lead on a wraparound attempt.  After a couple of even offs between the teams Turner was sent to the box with 4:06 remaining   Wallaceburg would notch their first power play goal of the game as Gladwish was burned between his pad and the post and the game was knotted at 2 with 3:12 remaining.  The White Black and Gold fought off Wallaceburg but saw themselves go down 2 players before the end of regulation as Reis Lopes got tagged for Head contact and Walker Holmes was sent to the box for Body contact.  While Lopes would get out before the end of the period Holmes would still be there as the game headed to an extra frame.  Mooretown would not let the overtime period last long as Hunter Seguin again had a break but was caught at the last minute by a Laker defender.  In the ensuing scramble the puck squirted to Logan Forbes in the high slot and his shot found the smallest of gaps between the players out front and the goalie 1 minute into overtime.  Hunter Seguin and Evan Turner would garner assists on the game winner.  The season unfortunately has come to an end.  Thanks go out to coaches Steve and Kyle Blommers, trainer Chris Seguin and Manager Aaron Brant for their time and effort this season.  Also thanks to Dan Turner for wruting most of the stories on the website this year.
