U15 Rep Wins The Bobby Orr Tourney in Parry Sound
The Mooretown Junior Flags, U15 Rep team went to Parry Sound for the first tournament of the season - the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame Tourney. They returned champions with the gold medals to prove it and enjoyed the time making memories with their buddies, like Bobby Orr and Don Cherry did on the Bruins. They dominated their division and finished undefeated with win in Sunday's championship game.

On Friday, the U13 Rep team began with a decisive 4-0 victory vs. the Blues from the Ottawa region. Saturday was an opportunity to enjoy a rare tripleheader of hockey with 3 games in one day. The morning began with a 6-1 win over the Renfrew Timberwolves. The afternoon saw the Flags quiet the Oro Thunder with a 7-0 victory. The evening brought a rematch with an old foe, Kincardine, who had faced many of these players in the OMHA semifinals 2 years ago. It was like deja vu. Mooretown beat the Kincucks from Kincardine, this time 3-1.

Sunday's final games began with the U15 Rep challenging the Saugeen Valley Steelheads and frying them up with a 9-1 semifinal victory. For the championship game, Mooretown saw their old friends from South Huron. Mooretown won the Bobby Orr tourney top spot with a 4-1 final score. The fall leaves on the drive home from cottage country were beautiful red, but the medals were golden.

The team's first tourney of the year strengthened their connections between buddies, just like Bobby Orr and Don Cherry. The defence and goalie connected smoother than peanut butter and jam as Liam patrolled the net, and the defence of Chase, Cole, Dexter, Graeme, and Tucker was salty and sweet. Barrett, Oden, and Ryan went on a most excellent buddy adventure like Bill and Ted, skating so fast many said, 'Woah, dudes!' Cole, Cooper, and Klarke collaborated like Drake and Travis Scott as they played in sicko mode.' Drew, Ewan, and Gavin got more attention than T-Swift and Travis Kelce as they played with determination.

The Flags were guided by their head coach, Jeff Grant, and the staff of Ryan Scott, and Shawn Lajoie. The advise and coaching went together like cookies and milk.
