Shielding Off the Rebels
Mooretown would hope to continue its winning streak against the Ridgetown Rebels at the MSC.
While most of the first would go scoreless, the team's quality heads up playing would pay off with success in the opponent's net. Williams would put the team on the board via a tip from a Molson shot while Villanueva made it a 2-0 game as the team continued to pepper the Ridgetown netminder.
With the second period underway, Villanueva would strike again banging in a rebound left over from a hard Dunn shot. Ridgetown countered back on a power play converting to cut the lead to 3-1. Mooretown would take control of the game dominating the zone and getting some quality scoring chances. Raymond would send a blast from the blue line down the centre firing lane to increase the scoring gap.
Shaw was playing his stellar self shutting the door on his opponent in the third. Led by Passingham early in the frame, Mooretown's teamwork allowed the boys to score three more in the period as all the stars seemed to align for the team. Their good defensive work and eyes open approach paid off with a 7-1 victory. Villanueva would shine throughout the game garnering four points followed by Dunn and Molson each with three.
The team heads to Blenheim next Saturday just prior to the March Break Classic Tournament in Niagara on the Lake.
