Storm Open Post-Season With A Tough 6-4 Win Over Wallaceburg
The Mooretown Storm found themselves in a low shot affair that saw special teams make the difference in a 6-4 win over Wallaceburg at home to open the consolation playoffs.

The Mooretown Storm had a history lesson and were issued a challenge as they entered the 8 game Tri-county playoff round.  First was the history of the Octopus in Detroit.  Ask a player… Second Coach Gladwish promised to shave his Moustache and Goatee if the team won all 8 games of the playoffs.  With that on the plate the Storm came out strong but Wallaceburg found a way to counter the play of the Storm.  Mooretown would break through with 3:43 left in the first as Dominic Aliperti notched the first of his 5 goals on the night.  Anthony Plain would grab an assist on the goal.  Keaton Frayne who was serving the first of his three game suspension kept shots stats which saw Colin Gladwish with busier of the two net minders.  But, Mooretown would skate out of the first up 1-0.  Shots were 5-2 in favor of the visitors.  The Second would continue to be a tight affair Mooretown would get a power play but Mooretown would be unable to get much going.  Wallaceburg would break Colin Gladwish’s shut out 5:44 into the second to tie it 1-1 then go up 1 1:30 later.  Mooretown would respond quickly as Aliperti scored just 36 seconds later unassisted to make it 2-2.  The Lakers would hear back to the box at the 6:52 mark and Colton Williamson would score just 3 seconds later an a wrist shot from the point that put Mooretown up 3-2 MacKenzie Lumley won the draw back to get an assist. Wallaceburg would get sent to the box for a third time and the Storm would make them pay as Aliperti scored unassisted once again on the power play to make the score 4-2.  Wallaceburg would bounce right back as they scored 9 seconds later to pull back to within 1.  Again the Lakers outshot the Storm in the second 7-4.  With the curfew looming the refs decided to make the third a ten minute period.  Wallaceburg quickly tie the game just 38 seconds into the period as a cherry picker caught a pass at the Storm Blueline and beat Gladwish.  The game would start to get a little rough as the third period progressed and each team pushed for the go ahead goal. Mooretown would break through with 2:54 remaining as Dominic Aliperti scored with an assist to Nolan Johnston.  Dallas Mesko would through his body in harm’s way as he was run over by a Laker resulting in a penalty with 1:55 left in the game.  Aliperti would put the game out of reach as he scored a power play goal unassisted with 49.6 left to make it 6-4.  Things would get a little punchy near the end as Josh Raymond would head to the sin bin with 20.5 left as he and a Laker scuffled along the boards.  As the game came to an end Colton Williamson would come to the aid of his goalie and receive a 4 minute head contact penalty to end the game.  Wallaceburg would again outshoot Mooretown in the third 5-4 for games totals of 18 for the Lakers and 10 for the Storm.  The coaches were happy with some of the heads up passes early in the game but the team seemed to fall off as the game went on.  A full game effort is needed each and every game to win.
