Storm vs The Rebels and Lancers
The Storm Novice rep team was looking to go up against the leagues top teams as the Ridgetown Rebels and the Lambeth Lancers were coming to the Moore Sports Complex the Rebels on Saturday the 8th of December and the Lancers on the 9th of December.

The Strom started out well against the Rebels trading goals in the first period and ended the first in a 1-1 tie.  Lachlan Stewart and Masen Flett connected on the Storm’s lone first period goal.

The second and third periods were a different story as 2 of the Ridgetown players took over the game.  Myers #11 and Veccia #74 were dominating as theymade numerous end to end rushes with Myers scoring 4 goals and Veccia scoring 3 goals.

Masen Flett added a late 3rd period goal with Joey Edlington getting the helper but it was too little to late. The Storm fell to Ridgetown 7-2.

Sunday the 9th of December the Storm looked to upset the undefeated Lambeth Lancers.  Again the Storm got off to a good start When Masen Flett and Lachlan Stewart connected for an early goal.  The Lancers answered back making it a 1-1 game.  As the first period was winding down, Stewart and Flett hooked up again.  Bo Doxtator fed the puck to Flett who put it on net and Stewart was able to finish it off.  The first period ended with the Storm up 2-1 a David and the Goliath story was in the making.

Apparently the Lancers were unfamiliar with how that story ends as they poured in four goals in the second period.  The Storm did manage to answer with one of their own in the second as Blake Broumpton back handed one under the bar after Owen MacDonald passed the puck to Broumpton in the high slot.  The Storm were down 5-3 heading to the 3rd period.

The 3rd period wasn’t much better for the Storm as the Lancers continued to press.  Kelby Derrick was able to put a nice backhand past the Lancers net minder with Stewart and Flett getting the assists.  The Lancers found the back of the Storm net another 3 times in the 3rd period making it an 8-4 final.

The Storm had moments where it was obvious they could hang with the Lancers however some penalty troubles, followed by a bit of a let down, let this game get away.  The game was a physical one with both teams showing they were not afraid to pay the price to win the battle for the puck.
