The Storm Take the Championship in Mooretown
The Storm were action on the weekend as the host team in the Annual Mooretown Tournament. Facing off against three unknown opponents in Dundas, Erie North Shore and West Lincoln the Storm had to be focused and on their game if they wanted to contend for the Championship.

Game 1 - Mooretown 10 West Lincoln 1

First up for the Storm was the West Lincoln Wrath on Friday afternoon. It took the Storm a while to start clicking on the offence but they controlled the play and moved the puck well until the goals started to come in bunches to close out the 1st Period. The Storm blew the game open in the 2nd en route to a lopsided victory where the players did a great job of playing the right way and not letting any bad habits or selfish play creep into their game.

Game 2 - Mooretown 7 Dundas 5

The Storm were in action for their second game of the day with a late game against the Dundas Blues. This time the Storm got off to a quicker start to take a 3-1 lead into the 2nd. After sandwiching goals around one more Dundas maker in the middle of the period the Storm looked to be in comfortable shape but a late Blues goal cut the lead to two heading into the 3rd. Dundas would then go down and score off the face off to start the 3rd Period as the Storm defenders got crossed up at the blue line. With the momentum shifted the Storm looked to take back control while on the powerplay but a miscue on the break out put a banked puck into their own net to tie the score at 5. The Storm showed what they were made up and didn't fold but instead took the play to the Blues the rest of the way and potted two more to take the hard fought win.

Game 3 - Mooretown 5 Erie North Shore 1

On Saturday the Storm took on Erie North Shore looking to secure 1st Place in the Division and a spot in the Finals. Erie North Shore had a short bench but was a big and fast skating team that gave the Storm all they could handle. Mooretown took the lead late in the 1st and Erie responded early in the 2nd with both teams keeping up a very fast paced game. It was in the Storm's favour to keep the game fast and wide open as they had the advantage in depth and wore the Erie skaters down. Kaymond Turner was brilliant in goal flashing the quick glove in turning away some great Erie shooters before his team picked up 2 goals in each of the final two periods to seal a hard fought win.

Championship - Mooretown 4 Dundas 0

With Dundas defeating Erie North Shore late Saturday night the stage was set for Sunday's Championship Final. The Storm adjusted to Dundas' dump and chase forecheck and moved the puck quickly to have most of the play in the Blues' zone and as a result outchanced their opponents by a wide margin. Both goaltenders were exceptional but it was Cody Hitchcock who was unbeatable for the well earned shutout. For the fourth straight game Hay would light the lamp first to put the Storm in the lead in the early going. The Storm converted on a 5 on 3 powerplay to gain some insurance in the 2nd and put the game away with two late tallies in the 3rd. It was a great weekend for the Storm as all the lines were rolling and contributing, the defence were steady and controlled the flow of the game and, has been seen so far all season, both goalies have been dominant when getting the call.  Congratulations on the Tournament Championship!
