The Storm were at home for Game 3 looking to complete the sweep of Mt.Brydges to win the Shamrock League Championship. After falling behind 2-0 to a very game Cougars squad the Storm's offence kicked in to score the next 7 to wrap up their Shamrock League season as PeeWee A Champions.
Game 3 - Mooretown 7 Mt.Brydges 2
The Storm entered the game up by 2 in the series looking to close things out on home ice. The combination of the Cougars desperation and the Storm's slow start gave the edge to Mt.Brydges in the early going. The visitors carried the play in the 1st creating a lot more scoring chances than the Storm. Kaymond Turner held steady with only one close in deke getting past him. In the 2nd Mt.Brydges would up their lead off a strong forecheck making it look like this series may get extended to a Game 4. By the midpoint of the period the Storm finally looked to get in gear and got on the board as Jake Taylor drove hard to the net to bury a rebound from Logan Gardner. This goal gave the Storm some life and a minute later Greg Hay tipped in a Hayden MacDonald point blast to tie the score at 2. Just nine seconds after that Nolan Farr put the Storm up to stay after gaining the zone off the faceoff and snapping home a quick wrist shot.
In the 3rd Mt.Brydges gave it their all to get the equalizer but the Storm were too much and scored four more times to close out the win. Nic Ashley, Hay, Farr, and Houle all found the back of the net before it was all said and done while Turner shut the door for the last period and half .
The Storm had a successful Shamrock Playoff run going undefeated in 7 games.
Congratulations to the Mooretown Storm PeeWee Reps, 2012-13 Shamrock League Champions!
