Jr. Flags Strike Gold Against West Lorne Comets
MOORETOWN,ON-- The Mooretown Jr. Flags hosted an intense game versus the West Lorne Comets on Sunday afternoon that had the crowd at the edge of their seats the whole time. When the final buzzer sounded, the score favored the home team 4-2.
A quick paced 1st and stellar net minding from Nic Atkinson saw the period end tied at zero and not one fan moved a muscle as they waited in anticipation to see what the 2nd frame would offer.
Goals from veteran Sam Marsh-Thomas and the speedy Garrett Glover had the Flags up 2-1 in a period that resembled more of a tennis match in its back and forth action but still showcased some amazing hockey. The team utilized most of the tools they have been learning this season and it is beginning to pay off.
The Flags pulled ahead 3-1 in the third when Kayla McLean jumped on a rebound and made no mistake finding the back of the net with a beauty shot. Andrew Hayward -Lucas gave the team an insurance marker on a breakaway that was reminiscent of Mario.
The game finished 4-2 and the Flags have their 2nd win of the season....They played in a lot of close games so this one tasted so good!...great work team.
