Game #12.. Jr.Flags vs Lightning.
A very interesting game of hockey today as these 2 teams took to the ice in Mooretown..
It took a few minutes in the first period but Jr.Flags managed to get it together as Derek Zink started the play up the ice making a pass to Reed Mathieson who fired a rocket wrist'r at the net narrowly missing but created a juicy rebound for Nicolaas Gerrits... Nic took advantage of being in the right spot at the right time and "1 TIMED" a fantastic shot deep into that net. Good things happen when your ready and at that net for those rebound opportunities.. Great work Nic !! And for this Nicolaas took home the Golden Jersey..(and wore it all day long ).
Jr.Flags had the game for the first period and well into the second before it was all about Reed Mathieson scoring 2 more fantastic goals with 2 beauty assists by Jesse Knight as these 2 players lite it up bringing our team up 3 and it seemed to be like we were unstoppable ,,, but South Kent Lightning made a comeback early in the third putting them on the board and their team was determined to win. Although Lightning scored what I call a very "Questionable Goal" to put them up to 2. Nolan Beaudoin faced another 20 shots today and sometimes the officials can be slow on those whistles making a goalies life tough.. Its hard when you cant see that puck but Nolan doesnt give up easy and is very determined and for that our team "Thanks You" Awesome work between the pipes Nolan .. Also ..Our team never gave up.. but the Lightning gained some momentum and managed to sink that 3rd goal to tie the game. It was a good example of why we should never give up no matter what. I have watched a lot of minor hockey and have had the pleasure of being on the bench for 6 years and this game is never the same every time you get on that ice and it can turn around in a matter of seconds.. Thats what its all about.. Never give up. Our boys played hard and should be very proud of themselves. This is our teams 3rd tie this season and as far as we are concerned a tie game is just as good as a win.. But what matters the most is Having Fun !!
Just a reminder that all the Cash Calendar and ticket sale $$ should be handed back in to Sheila Johnston so that can all be taken care of and paid for.. With only 5 weeks to Christmas we will all be very busy and we have a lot of hockey yet still to play.. Especially with the MTMHA tourney coming up fast. Lets keep up the Team Spirit as this team is playing very well together. Also would like to say thanks to all the people that make this team work , but most of all to all the Parents for all your efforts and dedication.
