Jr.Flags vs West Lorne Comets.
Team Spirits were high today and this team showed up to play.. Santa must have brought them all a big cup full of confidence ...
Jr.Flags took to the ice today playing hard right from the drop of the puck and our team dominated the Comets end of the ice placing lots of shots on the net and looking for them rebounds paid off when our Capt. Reed Mathieson placed our first goal on the board assisted by Devon Zinc. Just 32 seconds later Devon landed a beauty wrist'r deep in the net with a pass from Patrick Brown. The team is cycling that puck better than ever now and this game is shaping up well. Comets feeling the pressure with only 9 skaters on the bench today as Flags took advantage of this as "HATrick Brown " would score the teams next 3 goals in a row.. Jace Johnston assisting with a sweet pass on the first goal and Devon Zinc connecting stick to stick on the second goal.. Great work boys !! Comets scoring their first goal 3 minutes into the 2nd and their team seemed to be gaining momentum... they would score again with 18.7 seconds to go in the 2nd and we would end this period 4-2. Start of the 3rd... #19 would score his 3rd goal... But the team seemed to be under a lot of pressure as Comets were advancing in our end keeping Nolan busy between the pipes and the game was getting close and we needed to advance and get that insurance goal we needed.. So thats what our boys did with the Zinc Brothers playing hard at the net scoring our 5th goal when Devon Took a beauty rebounder shot from his bro Derek.. Awesome !!...AND THEN..Just when you think you have seen it all... with 1:05 to go... Samuel Rodey comes outta nowhere and fires a fantastic shot at that net landing the most important goal of all.. His 1st goal this season.. #8.. way to go Sammy.. Congratulations !! Sams sweet goal assisted by #14 Derek Zinc and wearing the roaming "A" Jace Johnston picks up 2 points this game..Theres no doubt that our team is getting better every time we get out there on the ice..
Our defensive line up.. Alex Blair, Jace Johnston, Daden Sheldon and all other players that stand in as "D" when required deserve a huge "High 5" as these players are doing a wonderful job keeping that puck outta Nolans house no matter what it takes. Today was a great example of how to protect as I noticed twice when our goalie was down that the "D" saved the day by getting deep in the crease and stoping that puck from going in.. Excellent effort boys and the team "Thanks You"...Keep it up !!
Theres only 3 more games left in our regular play season before we enter the play downs .. This team has really come a long way and theres still a lot of exciting hockey left to go.. Keep Up The Team Spirit !!
