Storm vs. Bruins
On Saturday the 3rd of November, 2012 the Mooretown Storm Novice rep team traveled to Blenheim to take on the leaders of the Shamrock hockey league’s South division.
The Storm knew they were in tough as the
Blenheim team had a perfect 8 and 0 record with 104 goals for and 16 goals
against.
The Blenheim team showed that their record
was no fluke charging down the ice on the opening puck drop and scoring in just
the first 22 seconds of the game.
Mooretown settled down and were finding their game however, after
finding themselves short handed, gave up a second goal halfway through the
period.
The Storm responded to the Blenheim attack
with a three way passing play between Kelby Derrick, Lachlan Stewart and Masen
Flett. Blenheim answered right away with
a goal of their own ending the first period with the Blenheim team leading the
Storm 3-1.
The Second period began well for the Storm
with them starting the scoring. Again
the Kelby Derrick, Lachlan Stewart and Masen Flett line were able to find the
twine by firing the puck on net and jamming away at the rebound. This brought the Storm to with in a goal at
3-2.
This would be as close as the Storm would
get as the parade to the penalty box began making it hard for the Storm to get
their offence going. In total the Storm ended up with 12 minutes in penalties
while Blenheim managed to stay out of the box.
In the end the Storm lost the game 6-2.
The Storm won’t have time to dwell on the
loss as the Southwest Bullets are coming to the Storm’s home barn on Sunday the 4th of
November, 2012 where the Storm will look to
turn things around.
