Novice Girls Remain Unbeatable
Mooretown, Ontario

The Lady Flags had another successful weekend with 2 more wins to go 6 – 0 on the season.  The Flags traveled to Ridgetown on Saturday afternoon and played another tight game. The game was neck in neck for the majority of the first 2 periods.  Ella Routley kicked off the scoring late in the second. Mekah Dewhirst, made a nice pass to Routley who took the puck in solo to fire one by the Phillies net minder for her first goal of the season. Lily Firth, continued her hard play and took the puck in for a pair of great goals with the first one set up by Addison Macleod and Kaitlyn Archibald, The latter was a wrap around unassisted.  Mackenzie Duncan took another great feed from Mekah Dewhirst, to make it 4-0 with 7 minutes to go.  The Phillies managed to get one late in the period, but girls took the game 4-1.

Back on home soil Sunday Afternoon, the Zorra Fusion came for a visit.  Lily Firth stick handled one in with a hard shot to the back of the net with just under 5 minutes into the game.  The Fusion tied it up early in the second, but Charlie Potvin rose to the occasion with a big save and a pass resulting in an end to end rush by Avery Hands to regain the lead a minute later with an awesome deke.   The Fusion tied it again later in the second but Addison Hogan took control moments later with a redirect to Mekah Dewhirst who swiftly passed to Avery Hands for a great rush and goal with 3 seconds left in the period. The Fusion tied it again early in the third, but Jaelyn Divine, took over and put 2 in midway through the 3rd, with a solo  skate in to score and the second one off a pass from defenceman Makenzie Duncan, to make it 5-3.  Hands potted another for a hat trick on the day on a set up by Addison Macleod and the girls won 6-3. This was a great match up and will continue when the Flags go on a road trip to Thamesford next Saturday for a rematch with the Fusion and play in Belmont Sunday to be their first morning skate of the year.
