Novice Girls Split Road Trip
Elgin & Oxford Counties, Ontario

The Novice Girls hung out around London on the weekend with two big games Saturday and Sunday.  Sunday the girls played mid-morning against the undefeated B.A.D. Blazers.    This was a big game for the Lady Flags as this turned out to be their most evenly matched and the best effort the flags have given all year. The Blazers started out quickly with three goals midway through the first to take the lead.  After that, it was back and forth the entire game with Kaeley Derrick and Addison Macleod leading the offence.  The pair shifted momentum, with aggressive back checking and regained puck control on several occasions.  Derrick really moved her game to a new level.  The defensive core was amazing as well, with Eastyn Potvin glued to the puck and Kendall Adams holding the line in the offensive zone; Mackenzie Duncan and Avery Hands were able to make several offensive attempts, but were met with their biggest challenges yet. Felix Potvin was at her best on the day and had many stops to keep the girls alive throughout the game.   The final score in the contest was 4-0 for the Bad guys, but if the girls continue to play together like this and build on this speed and aggression they will continue to be very successful this season.

On Saturday The Flags grabbed a second win against the Fusion two weeks in a row.  Again this was a tight match from the get go.  Macleod opened the scoring with an unassisted goal, Lilly Firth popped one in on a feed from Mackenzie Duncan.  Duncan kept it going with a pass from Kaeley Derrick, and Katelyn Archibald scored her first career goal, by tipping in a shot from Addison Macleod. Avery Hands got a nice one unassisted to insure a 5-2 win.

Next week is Halloween weekend, with one game at home on Sunday against the Kent County Fillies.

Have a Great and Safe Halloween Kids. Great effort this week by all!!
