Hard Work Pays Off
The coaching staff had one message for the Mooretown Chargers at the beginning of the season and that was if you work harder than the other team good things will happen.  This past weekend Mooretown made stops in Petrolia and Wallaceburg where they played two very similar games.

On Friday night the Petrolia Oilers were ready to do anything to stop Mooretown's bid for a perfect regular season.  The Oilers came out ready for the game and worked to wear Mooretown down.  In a hard fought first period the score was 0-0 but due to Mooretown’s hard work, Petrolia would only get one shot on goal.  The rest of the game continued this way.  It was a night where the Chargers’ were not as crisp as they expect themselves to be however, they out hustled and out worked the Oilers and began to put up points on the board.  The final score was 6-2 thanks to hard work paying off.

Saturday morning saw a game against the Lakers in Wallaceburg.  The boys were excited and ready to demonstrate their team skills that have carried them through out the season and has made them the talk of the league.  After a quick score to start the game, Wallaceburg settled in and created a defensive shell around their goaltender.  The Mooretown boys attempted to break it down but it was a tough task.  Wallaceburg tied the game at 1-1 but that is when the Mooretown team decided enough was enough.  They started skating hard, pressuring the puck and fighting for rebounds which allowed them to increase their lead.  Mooretown never looked back and a late goal by Wallaceburg never deterred them as they all had one common goal and that was finishing the game on top.

The boys demonstrated this weekend that they are willing to work hard as a team in order to see results.  They should be proud of their efforts on a weekend where their positions and passing were a little off from where they know they can be.

The Mooretown TriCounty Chargers finish off the regular season with a game against the third place Blenheim Blades.  They are attempting to finish the season undefeated for the second season in a row.  We invite everyone to come out and cheer them on which should prove to be an exciting match.  Rink 2 10:45 AM Saturday January 25.
