The Storm Split the Weekend
The Storm played their first League road game in Wallaceburg and skated to a 9-2 win over the Jr. Lakers.  Back at home the next day the Storm had trouble getting their offence in gear and dropped a 2-1 decision to the visiting Petrolia Oilers.

In Wallaceburg on Saturday the Storm got off to a tentative start while they felt out their opposition.  After a somewhat sloppy 1st Period that had the teams tied at 1 the Storm soon found their stride to take control of the game in the 2nd by potting three more goals.  Mooretown continued to roll in the offensive zone burying five more in the 3rd to finish in dominating fashion.

Logan Gardner led the way with a hat trick with Cole Clements firing home 2.  Single markers went to Hunter Round, Ryan Janjatovic, Blake Howard and Josh McLean.

The Storm hosted the Oilers on Sunday in what turned out to be a fast paced, intense game for so early in the season.  Clements popped home an early rebound, from Jake Vandersteen and Jeff Barclay, to stake the Storm to a 1-0 lead after the 1st.    Both teams traded great opportunities in the 2nd, with the Storm's Kaymond Turner making a couple brilliant glove saves, before Petrolia evened the score at the midway point.  The game continued to see-saw back and forth with both teams pressing for the go ahead goal only to be stymied by the excellent goaltending.  It was going to take a big break to win this game and Petrolia got it as the winner came off a 3rd Period powerplay breakaway.

It was a good couple of games for the Storm to build off of to open the season as they prepare to take on the undefeated Lambeth Lancers at home this Sunday.
