Flags Run Point Streak To 8 Games
The Mooretown Flags Red  ran their unbeaten streak to 8 games.  That streak has put the Flags Red ontop of the league standings with 8 games remaing in the regular season.  The mid way report on the Flags has seen them take strides in certain aspects of their game with a little tweaking to do in order to get this team to where we wants to get to.  The coaching staff definetly see's the potential with this group of players Sky is the limit.  On to the game highlights

This game saw the Mooretown Flags take on the Southkent Lightning 1 on home ice.  The team was looking to get some revenge after an earlier loss in the season.   Mooretown Flags would score the only goal of the first period as Aden Bogaert scored his first of the season on a nice low shot that beat the goalie through a little traffic.  Assist on the play go to Drew Benoit and Josh Klompstra.  Lightning outshot Flags 2-1.  The second period would see the Lightning score two goals and tie the game after two periods.  Carter Hawkins scored the Flags goal on a short handed goals, while fighing off defenders.  Lighting outshoot Flags 9-4 in second period.  The game came down to the third period where the Flags have been a Jeykl and Hyde type of team.  They have come back to salvage points and let teams score to steal a win.  One thing that can be said about the Flags Red is that they don't quit and keep playing until that final buzzer sounds.  That is exactly what happened this evening,  the Lightning scored on a 2 on 0 mid way through the third period to take a one goal lead with time winding down.  The Lightning would continue to pepper Travis Morningstar with shots as he had to turn 15 shots away in the third,  not allowing rebounds for second opportunites.  The Flags would have a hard time getting shots on net this game,  some credit needs to go to a strong defensive game by the Lightning who would foil the slick stickhandling duo of Fraser and Hawkins.  The no quit mentality of this team once again showed as Sebastian Fraser ( after some advice from the coaches to put shots towards the net and not over it)  as he got the puck in the corner and at an improbable angle put the puck to the net and after a deflection found a way to squeak inside the post to tie the game late in the third.  Game would end in a 3-3 tie and lots of credit needs to go to Travis Morningstar who backstopped us turned away 25 shots to keep us very much alive and in this game. Final shot total  Lightning 25-7  Congratulations Team!
Next up is Wallaceburg 2 who have a 6-2-2 record and having skated to a 3-3 tie against the Flags Red in early Nov.
