Mooretown Flags Racking Up The Ties
Flags Red skated to yet another tie.  That would be three ties in the last four games.  Good news is that the team contiunes to get points and stay atop the league standings.

There was a scary moment on the ice as one of our players and team captain Carter Hawkins lay still for a few moments on the ice. As three defenders converged on the speedy centre, Hawkins tried to cut to the middle and got airborne and fell awkwardly on his tail bone.  He was helped to the bench and dressing room by the team trainer.  Here is hoping Carter is ok and he is good to go in future games. Back to the game recap.  The first period saw the two teams trade goals.  Sebastian Fraser scored a first period goal to tie the game after one period.  Shot in first period 3 for Wallaceburg,  1 for Mooretown.  The second period would see the Mooretown Flags comeout with a little more jump, they controlled the play and had more opportunities. A frantic moment around the Wallaceburg net with under 3 mintues left as a Wallacburg player covered the puck in their own crease and a penalty shot was awarded.  Sebastian Fraser would be the shooter. Unfortunately he was unable to beat the goaltender . Despite outplaying their opponents they would finish the second period tied at 2.  Goal scorer in the second period was Brad Aitchison. Shots in the period were 10 for Mooretown 5 for Wallacburg.  We start the third period in a familiar postion... tied.  Would the team continue on their trend of finishing with a tie,  skate to a much needed win or suffer second loss of the season.  Mooretown Flags came out flying in this period coming close on several occasions to take the lead.  We would eventually score the go ahead goal on a goal by Sebastian Fraser.  It would be his second of the game.  Wallaceburg would score with roughly 5 minutes left in the third period to tie the game and despite firing 12 shots on net the Flags were unable to score that go ahead goal.  Final score 3-3, shots on net  22 for Mooretown 16 for Wallaceburg.  A few players who stood out from the stands were Josh Klompstra.  He played a solid, smart game.  Skated with his head up, showed patience and made some nice passes,  he kept the puck alive in the offensive zone.  Well done Josh. Travis Morningstar  once again was solid between the pipes, he continues to be the cornerstone of this team.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
