Even Steven. Black Flags Rescue A 1-1 Tie To Stay Ahead Of South Kent #1
The Mooretown Jr. Flags Black waited until the last minute to score to escape Blenheim with a 1-1 tie to remain one point ahead of the Lightning for a top 2 finals spot.

The Mooretown Jr. Flags Black took the trip to Blenheim to face South Kent Lightning #1 a team they had close contest with both times in the regular season.  Mooretown would have their full team for the trip meaning they should have lots of legs for a fast paced contest.  The game did not disappoint as both teams traded opportunities in the first by neither could score after some great saves at both ends.  Shots on goal in the first would favor Mooretown 8-5.  It would be South Kent who would score first 2:16 into the second on a shot Colin Gladwish had no chance on to make it 1-0.  Mooretown would head to the box near the end of the second as Colton Williamson would go to the box for interference with 3:22 remaining in the period but the Black Flags would smother the power play and the period would end 1-0.  Mooretown was garnering chances but South Kent Defenders did a great job of blocking several shots.  Shots on goal in the second would favor the Lightning 9-7.  Again the third period would be tight with neither team willing to give an inch and when they did the goalies did their job.  South Kent would give Mooretown a power play with 5:31 left in the third.  But the power play would last just 37 seconds as Coltan Beauvais would head to the box for a head contact after he got tangled up with a South Kent player. Neither team would get any sustained pressure 4 on 4 and South Kent would fail to get anything going with their shortened power play.  Mooretown would be forced to roll the dice in the dying minutes as they pulled Colin Gladwish for an extra attacker.  Coltan Beauvais would come streaking off the bench and would fire a low one just inside the post after a nice feed from Lucas Rodey to tie the game at one with 35 seconds left.  MacKenzie Lumley would also get an assist.  The final 35 seconds would be played out mostly in the neutral zone and then teams would skate off with a well-earned 1-1 tie.  Shots in the third were 8-7 for South Kent for a game total of 22 for each side. Colin Gladwish would get to rip half the logo off the octopus for his solid goaltending throughout the playoffs thus far allowing 11 goals in 5 games.   Mooretown remains in second place 1 point ahead of South Kent #1 and 4 points ahead of Mooretown Red.  West Lorne has locked up one of the two playoff spots after scoring a win over Mooretown Red.  Mooretown Black is the only team that can pass them for first and home ice advantage and West Lorne holds the tie breaker over South Kent should the team tie.  The Black Flags will host South Kent tomorrow in a game that could very well decide the fate of the division.
