OMHA Playdowns Game #2 vs St. Marys
The Storm took to the friendly confines of Mooretown Sports Complex for game #2 vs St. Marys, as they hoped for a better result than from the previous day.  Unfortunately, the outcome was more of the same as the Storm fell by a final count of 9-1.  The Storm would still be without team captain, Hunter Seguin, as he continues to heal, however Colin Gladwish was feeling well enough to serve as back-up for the game.  As well, the team called up Masen Flett from the Novice Reps and he did an admirable job filling in to help bolster up the offensive punch.  Jake Booth netted the lone goal for the team and Ben Brant tended the pipes once again.

The Storm started off the 1st period in a similar fashion to the game before, as they were delivered a penalty for hooking, just 2 minutes in.  "Big Ben" was forced to make a few key saves early, as he helped keep the Rock PP off the board.  The refs would soon turn their attention to the Rock, as their aggressive play continued, and landed them back-to-back minors for body checking.  Call up, Masen Flett had the best chance to convert on the PP, as he had a glorious chance when he drove the puck down the slot, but saw his shot denied from the opposing netminder.  St. Marys would ultimately kill off the penalties and garner the momentum as they went on to score 2 late goals, to go into the 2nd period leading 2-0.

The first half of the 2nd period would see some good back-and-forth action, but the Storm were unable to get that first goal to get them going.  Instead, it would be St. Marys that would score the next one to put the visiting team up 3-0.  After that, the wheels seemed to fall off the Storm, as St. Marys finished out the remainder of the period, scoring four more times, taking a 7-0 lead into the final frame.

The Storm played a closer 3rd period, as Brant settled back down in net and kept the many Rock shots at bay, while his team responded and got their first goal of the game, as Robbie Gladwish banked the puck up to Walker Holmes, who drove wide and fired the puck towards the net where Jake Booth put one over the goalie, to make the score 7-1.  The Rock would be held to two goals in the final frame to make the final 9-1.

The Storm will have to try and keep the series alive, on the road, as they travel to St. Marys again for a mid-week game on Wednesday night.  Good luck boys!
