St Clair Storm Atom Girls Off to Great Start in Playoffs
The St Clair Storm Atoms Girls are off to a great start in WOGHL league playoffs. After the first 4 games the Storm are 4-0 recording consecutive victories against the Mitchell Meteors, Zorra Fusion and the BAD Girls Blazers.

The Storm blew in to Mitchell last weekend on Sat Feb 8th and posted an impressive 4-0 win against a Meteor squad that has proved an worthy opponent a number of times this season.  Goals in all 3 periods and a solid performance in goal marked a very good start to the playoffs. Taylor Maclean and Tarin Passingham each netted a pair of goals with a pair of assists to Teygin Quinn and assists to Samantha Duncan and McKenna Larsen. Brooklyn Macleod shut the door to earn the shutout.

The girls followed up the road win with an exciting 5-2 victory at home on Sun Feb 9 against a previously unseen Zorra Fusion team.  The game remained close after 1 period of play with the Storm up by 1, but our girls came out on fire in the 2nd netting 4 unanswered goals to go up 5-0. The Fusion kept fighting on, however, and netted 2 of their own (1 in the 2nd and 1 in the 3rd) to leave the game at 5-2 after regulation.  With that victory, the Storm were 2-0 to start the playoffs.  Lili Gagne netted a pair of goals along with goals by Emma Clark, Ashley Anderson and Tarin Passingham. McKenna Larsen had 3 assists to mark a 3 point game and Taylor Maclean, Emma Clark and Tegin Quinn each had as assist as well. Kylie Shaw kept watch between the pipes to earn the win.

Sat Feb 15th saw the Storm on a road trip to face the BAD Girls Blazers in Aylmer in the morning and the Zorra Fusion in Thamesford in the afternoon.  The game vs the BAD Girls Blazers was a very hard fought, tight match.  The Blazers opened the scoring in the 1st, only to be matched by a Storm goal by Taylor Maclean on a nice feed from Brooklynn Foster to the slot a few minutes later.  The Storm notched another marker in the 2nd on an end to end rush by Samantha Duncan to make it 2-1 after 2.  The Blazers came back to tie it up early in the 3rd but the Storm went ahead to stay mid-way through the 3rd on a one time slap shot by Brice Knight on a feed from Darah Jackson. Brooklyn Macleod made the key saves to keep the Storm in it and earn the win.

Later that afternoon, the Storm rolled into Thamesford to face the Zorra Fusion in the 2nd game of the doubleheader. St Clair were hemmed in their zone early in the game, but weathered the ... storm (parden the pun) and then drew first blood on a nice goal by Cadence Harrison off the rush on feeds from Samantha Duncan and Ashley Anderson. Samantha Duncan netted another on an end to end rush again in the 2nd and the Storm went up 2-0. Early in the 3rd the Storm went up 3-0 on a goal by Tarin Passingham during a scramble for the loose puck in front of the blazer net.  Assists were earned by Jasmine Pole and Brice Knight on the play. The Fusion answered back quickly with one, but the Storm shut it down to close out with the 3-1 victory.  Kylie Shaw stood tall minding the twine to earn the win.

The St Clair Storm surely earned the "Road Warriors" moniker after posting 3 wins on the road in the playoffs so far to go a perfect 4-0 so far in league playoff action.  Next game sees the Storm face the BAD Girls Blazers at home on Sun Feb 16 at 5:00pm.  This game should prove to be another exciting close hard fought match and our girls will need their best effort once again.  GO STORM GO!!!!!!
