Storm Finally “Get It” As They Score 6-2 Win Over Ridgetown For Second Playoffs Win
The Mooretown Storm started to put 2 and 2 together using what they learned in practice to good use as they beat Ridgetown 6-2 at home Monday night.

Most of the Mooretown Storm had a little extra R and R after failing to advance at the Tournament in Seaforth after a heartbreaking tie on Saturday but were ready to get back to work on Monday night as they faced the Ridgetown Rebels in the second game of the Consolation round robin playoffs.  Ryerson Petrie would get called up from the Atom Tri county team to play net for the Storm as Colin Gladwish donned his out equipment and took the suspended Keaton Frayne’s spot in the lineup.  The Storm would get off to a slow start as Ryerson Petrie made the save of the game in the opening minute as he dove across the net an made a save with paddle of his stick.  That seemed to calm down Mooretown and they got to work as Colton Beauvais would intercept the puck at the Rebels blue line and make no mistake as he fired it home to put the Storm up 1-0 2:56 into the game.  Mackenzie Lumley would make it 2-0 as Nolan Johnston fed him a nice pass on a 2 on 1 executed to perfection.  The coaching staff was especially pleased the way the two players spread out as practiced. The Storm continued some great passing and Ryerson Petrie made the saves when called upon.  The Second period would see the Storm go up 3-0 as Braeden Hunt would tip home a centering pass from the corner by Dallas Mesko. Ridgetown would spoil Petrie’s shut out bid midway through the second to make it 3-1.  Mooretown would get a powerplay late in the second but did not capitalize as it stretched into the third.  The Storm would go up 4-1 on the power play as Dominic Aliperti took time from his attempts to set up other players to score one for himself 2:52 into the third as Colin Gladwish put the puck out front and Aliperti did the rest. Of course it wouldn’t be a game as of late if Josh Raymond didn’t make his usual trip to the sin bin on a well deserved hook. On that note Josh has received a lot of penalties that could be argued were because of his size and not necessarily deserved.  Ridgetown pounced on the opportunity and scored to make it 4-2.  Raymond would make amends as Aliperti dropped it back to the point and Raymond fired it through the crowd to make it 5-2.  After spending 2 periods on defense Colin Gladwish made the most of his period on forward as Aliperti and Gladwish streaked in on a 2 on 0 and Dom put the puck right on Gladwish’s stick for an easy one timer for the Storm’s sixth goal of the game.  Again Kudos to Dominic for his selfless play on the night.  As for the rest of the team it looked like some hard lessons were learned in tournament and there were so many great plays with heads up passes.  Well Done one and all!!!  Up next is an exhibition game with the Southwest Bullets before a game next Monday against Petrolia.
